Tajikistan is the smallest country in Central Asia and yet it is still almost five times the size of Belgium. It is known for being the land of the high Pamir Mountains. Around half of its land lies at 3000 meters above sea level or more. Dushanbe is the largest city as well as the cultural, political and economic heart of the country. The best time to visit Tajikistan therefore depends on the activities you want to do there. If you’re looking to head into the mountains, it’s best to plan your trip between June and September. These months are warm and sunny, with little to no rainfall. This is ideal for trekking in the stunning Pamirs or driving the famous Pamir Highway.
